Description

What kind of wine it is

Tradition Blanc de Noirs Extra Brut is a Champagne with a dry, fresh and structured profile produced by Marie Demets. Made from Pinot Noir grapes, it appears in the glass with a pale straw yellow hue. The bouquet opens with floral notes of hawthorn, followed by hints of apple and fresh pear, enriched by nuances of angelica and currant. On the palate, it reveals a full-bodied structure, where hints of white peach precede a persistent finish, characterised by accents of blood orange and grapefruit.

Where it comes from

This wine originates from Gyé-sur-Seine, in the heart of the Côte des Bar. Marie Demets has managed her own vineyards since the 1950s, operating as a récoltant-manipulant. This approach ensures meticulous care throughout the entire production process, guaranteeing full adherence to the identity of the region. The estate's vineyards are cultivated according to the principles of organic and sustainable viticulture, promoting the authentic expression of the French terroir.

How it is produced

Production follows the strict principles of the Traditional Method, which gives the Champagne a fine and refined effervescence. The low dosage enhances the clarity of the Extra Brut profile. With excellent ageing potential, it can mature in the bottle for between five and ten years. Served at an ideal temperature between 6 and 8 °C, it is the perfect pairing for oysters and shellfish, and also elegantly complements cheeses and seafood starters.

History and Curiosities

In the heart of the Côte des Bar, the history of the Demets family is rooted in the 1950s, reaching its first official vintage in 1987. As a récoltant-manipulant, the winery cultivates its ten hectares following the principles of organic and sustainable viticulture, with full respect for the environment. From this deep connection with the land comes the estate's signature label: a refined Blanc de Noirs Extra Brut capable of expressing the authentic essence of Champagne with extraordinary elegance.

The Demets family produces and markets its Champagne at Gyé sur Seine in the heart of the Côte des Bar. In the 1950s, André Brément (the family's maternal grandfather) started to plant vines while he was still a vineyard worker. Slowly but surely he developed his own operation. In 1972, Alain Demets, his son-in-law, began working in vineyard management, and later took over the family estate of his wife Marie to create Marie Demets Champagne. A few years later, Alain began to make their wines into champagne and to market them 1987 was his first vintage.

Today, the family tradition continues under the leadership of their son Peter. At present, the vineyard covers 10 hectares with an annual production of 90,000 bottles.
