Description
What kind of wine it is
M. Chapoutier Crozes Hermitage Les Meysonniers is an organic red wine that fully reflects the identity of the M. Chapoutier winery. Made from Syrah grapes, it presents a deep and intense purplish-red colour. The bouquet is characterised by clear notes of red fruits, blackcurrant and raspberry, which blend harmoniously with delicate hints of violet. On the palate, it reveals a broad and rounded structure, culminating in a pleasant finish with notes of stewed fruit and vanilla. If decanted for about an hour, it shows excellent development and demonstrates an outstanding ageing potential, able to rest in the cellar for ten to fifteen years.
Where it comes from
This wine originates from the Crozes-Hermitage area, in the heart of the Rhône Valley, a renowned French region for Syrah cultivation. The vineyards, with an average age of at least twenty-five years, benefit from a southern exposure that ensures optimal ripening of the grapes thanks to ideal sunlight. The soil consists of a mixture of gravel, a draining and distinctive terrain that imparts aromatic precision and a solid structure to the taste profile of this important French red.
How it is produced
Production begins with meticulous manual harvesting, carried out only when the Syrah has reached perfect ripeness. In the winery, the vinification process involves careful pumping over in concrete vats, a fundamental technique for achieving a balanced extraction of colour and aromas. Subsequently, the wine matures for about twelve months through ageing in concrete, a deliberate choice to preserve the purity of the fruit and enhance the natural smoothness of the final sip.
History and Curiosities
Born from the passion of Michel Chapoutier, this Crozes-Hermitage AOC embodies the authentic winemaking tradition of the Rhône. The organic pure Syrah grapes, grown on vines at least 25 years old, are hand-harvested at full ripeness. Traditional vinification and ageing for around twelve months in concrete vats enhance its refined aromas of blackcurrant, raspberry and violet. On the palate, it reveals a broad and rounded structure, with a finish of stewed fruit and vanilla, awarded 92 points by James Suckling.
