Description

What kind of wine it is

Lis Neris La Vila is a still white wine that embodies the essence of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Made exclusively from Friulano grapes, historically also known as Sauvignon Vert, this wine faithfully represents the Friuli Isonzo region. It appears an intense, bright straw yellow in the glass. The bouquet is characterised by clear notes of yellow peach and wildflowers, enriched by delicate almond notes. On the palate, it is rich and enveloping, supported by a pleasant freshness and a structural balance that leads to a persistent and harmonious finish.

Where it comes from

The grapes originate from the Feudi vineyard, located in the municipality of Romans. The Lis Neris winery operates on a plateau in San Lorenzo, strategically positioned between the Isonzo river and the border with Slovenia. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of twenty-three metres, rooted in a distinctive gravelly limestone plateau. This specific geological formation encourages slow and steady ripening, essential for concentrating aromas in the grapes. The vines are cultivated using the Guyot system, following strict planting densities to ensure a controlled yield and excellent agronomic quality.

How it is produced

The vinification process begins with fermentation in temperature-controlled steel tanks, an ideal technique for preserving the integrity of the grape variety. The wine then matures for eleven months through a blend of steel and barrels. During this period, frequent bâtonnage on the fine lees gives the wine greater volume, breadth and complexity of flavour. Finally, the process concludes with a final ageing of four months, a crucial stage in which the structure reaches its fullest expression and harmony.

History and Curiosities

The Friuli Isonzo DOC “La Vila” by Lis Neris celebrates local traditions, evoking the area where social and public life once flourished. Created by the expertise of oenologist Alvaro Pecorari, this white wine expresses all the strength of its native terroir. Thanks to its position on the plateau between the Isonzo and the Slovenian border, the gravelly limestone soil encourages a slow ripening of the grapes, ensuring a rich and balanced aromatic profile. A splendid expression from one of the most dynamic and lively wineries in Friuli.
