Description
What kind of wine it is
Vigne 50 Anni Friulano by Le Vigne di Zamò is an organic white wine that deeply expresses the essence of the Colli Orientali del Friuli. In the glass, it displays an intense, brilliant golden yellow colour. Its complex bouquet weaves together sweet notes of ripe tropical fruit, citrus nuances, and a characteristic hint of almond paste. On the palate, it shows a robust structure, revealing itself as dry, rounded, and silky. The absence of sharp edges allows bold aromas of Golden apple and exotic fruit to shine through, elegantly enriched by hints of cereals and quince.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the municipality of Manzano, located in the heart of the Colli Orientali del Friuli. The fruit grows in historic vineyards that are fifty years old, cultivated according to organic farming principles. The estate's land stretches across three distinct terroirs: Rosazzo, renowned for its excellent sun exposure, Buttrio, and Rocca Bernarda. Vineyard management uses the simple Guyot training system to maintain the ideal vegetative balance of the plant. The synergy between this care and the Friulian terroir ensures an excellent quality yield, capable of enhancing the distinctive traits of the Friulano grape variety.
How it is produced
The grapes are hand-harvested in mid-September. In the winery, after a partial cold maceration, the whole bunches are pressed in a nitrogen atmosphere to preserve the integrity of the aromas. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The wine then undergoes a long ageing on the lees for ten months, always in steel and without any racking, gaining depth and smoothness. After only partially undergoing malolactic fermentation, the various batches are blended into the final blend. A final rest in the bottle for about a year defines its complex gustatory harmony before release to the market.
History and Curiosities
A true tribute to Friulian tradition, this refined organic wine is produced in Manzano from historic 50-year-old vineyards rooted in the renowned terroirs of Rosazzo, Buttrio and Rocca Bernarda. Overseen by oenologist Nicola Piccoli, the Friulano 2022 by Le Vigne di Zamò is a limited edition, with only 3,086 bottles produced. The grapes are pressed in a nitrogen atmosphere and the must rests for ten months in steel on its own lees, preserving the integrity of the original fragrant aromas. A final refinement in the bottle enhances its elegance and structure.

The company is fortunate to draw from three different terroirs that give the wines different and unique characters and personalities. The Zamò family has been cultivating the land for centuries: first the grandfather, then the father and finally the sons, all united under the same goal: cultivating the land and making wine as a sign of civilisation and respect for their origins and traditions,
In addition to great white wines, including Friulano and Ribolla Gialla, the company focuses on red wines to maintain the indigenous grape varieties and to pursue new projects and innovations. For years, the Zamò family has been conducting cultivation with sustainability-conscious methods, and in 2021 they obtained the first Certified Organic grape harvest. Read more
