Description
What kind of wine it is
Gewürztraminer La Vis is a still white wine with the Trentino designation that expresses the identity of Trentino-Alto Adige through the Aromatic Traminer. After fermentation and maturation in steel, it presents an intense golden colour and a bouquet rich in apple, pineapple, cloves and nutmeg. On the palate, it is dry, enveloping and full-bodied, consistently supported by excellent freshness. The elegant mineral finish makes it an excellent pairing for seafood starters, fried shellfish, grilled white meats and cheese selections.
Where it comes from
The grapes grow in Trentino, between the municipalities of Lavis, Pressano and the lower Cembra Valley, at around three hundred and fifty metres above sea level. The terraced vineyards benefit from a cool continental climate, ventilated by breezes from Lake Garda. The marked temperature variation enhances the varietal aromas during ripening. The roots explore deep, sandy-silty soils, enriched by porphyry deposits and clay, ensuring the bunches achieve the perfect balance between liveliness and structure.
How it is produced
Production begins in the last ten days of September with careful manual harvesting. In the winery, a gentle pressing in an inert atmosphere follows, a fundamental step to avoid oxidation and preserve the delicacy of the aromas. After static decantation, the must ferments at a controlled temperature in steel tanks. The wine then matures for about six months on the fine lees, a practice that enhances its flavour depth and aromatic precision before bottling.
History and Curiosities
This prestigious Gewürztraminer Trentino DOC pays tribute to the historic tradition of the La-Vis winery, founded in 1948, celebrating a grape variety of Alsatian origin that has found its ideal habitat on the hills of Pressano. The grapes, grown at an altitude of 350 metres using the traditional Trentino pergola system, are carefully hand-picked towards the end of September to preserve the integrity of their aromatic profile. The meticulous refinement in steel on fine lees gives this white wine remarkable structural complexity, rewarded with an excellent 93 points from Luca Maroni.

The logo takes inspiration from a decorative element that has always been present in the company and bears a highly symbolic value: a wooden bas-relief celebrating the founding of the winery in 1948 which represents the coats of arms of the municipalities of Lavis, Giovo and Meano, the very first protagonists in the association’s establishment. A timeless brand of great strength that puts the Winery and its founding values at the centre: cooperation, history and the bond with the territory.
The Lavis wine-makers cooperative traces its origins to 1850, when the Cembran family built the initial core of the current production unit. It was officially formed in 1948 by 14 independent wine-makers and grew in the years that followed, due partly to acquisitions of other producers, including mergers with the Salorno Cooperative of South Tyrol in 1969 and Cantina Sociale di Cembra in 2003.
