Story Fattoria La Braccesca, which covers a total area of 508 hectares, is composed of two separate bodies: the historic nucleus of the estate is located in the Montepulciano area, with 103 hectares planted with vines; the other, with 237 hectares of vines, is located at the foot of the hills surrounding Cortona. Achelo celebrates the Cortonese territory through an enveloping and delicate wine. Its name is inspired by the God Achelo, depicted in one of the most important Etruscan works in the Museum of the Etruscan Academy in Cortona.
Origin Cortona (Arezzo)
Harvest Mid-late September.
Fermentation temperature 25 °C (max)
Wine making After destemming and crushing, the must was transferred to stainless steel tanks where cold pre-fermentation maceration took place to enhance the fruity notes. Fermentation occurred at temperatures not exceeding 25°C and lasted about 10 days.
Aging 70% of the wine was then transferred to second and third passage French oak barriques, where malolactic fermentation took place, and the remainder was transferred to stainless steel.
