Description
What kind of wine it is
Jacques Rousseaux Champagne Grand Cru Montgolfiere Extra Brut is a refined Traditional Method sparkling wine. It is created from a harmonious blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, presenting itself with an elegant pale gold colour. The bouquet releases intense aromas of apricot, vineyard peach and melon, enriched by subtle smoky and peppery nuances. On the palate, it is fresh, taut and vibrant, offering a dry and precise finish.
Where it comes from
Originating from the prestigious vineyards of Verzenay, this Champagne is classified as Champagne Grand Cru. Its creation is owed to the dedication of Jacques Rousseaux, an independent winemaker who continues a family tradition that began in 1776. A rigorous organic and sustainable approach ensures the wine has excellent ageing potential and extraordinary gustatory elegance, qualities also celebrated by the prestigious Hachette guide.
How it is produced
The grapes are processed according to the strict principles of the Traditional Method, resulting in an Extra Brut with a clear and decisive profile. The structure of the Pinot Noir finds perfect balance with the finesse brought by the Chardonnay. Thanks to its pronounced freshness, it is ideal for accompanying fish and shellfish or Asian cuisine specialities. Served at a temperature of 6-8 °C, it also beautifully enhances mature cheeses and grilled meats.

In Champagne the numerous vine growers cultivated their vines throughout the year and sold their harvest to the trade houses. Paul Rousseaux, born in 1884, followed a project shared with numerous other vine growers: produce his own champagne and market it himself (in 1999 we tasted the contents of one of these bottles, the wine was still fresh, with the color of old gold).
Paul had two children, Pierre and Michel. Pierre married Charlotte Degouy and they continued to cultivate the vineyards and to make their champagne, despite the conflicts that devastated Europe and our region during this period. They had four children: Jacques, Anne-Marie, Luc and Dominique. And today... Jacques, the eldest son, continues to cultivate the vineyards of the family, who trust in him. With his wife, Bernadette, they have developed their market during 30 years. Since January 2001 Céline and Eric, two of their three children, welcome you at the house of Jacques Rousseaux at Verzenay. Read more
