Description
What kind of wine it is
The Creator by House of Smith is an organic red wine that precisely expresses the terroir of Washington State. This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah offers aromas of ripe cherry, orange zest and pipe tobacco on the nose. On the palate, clear notes of blackcurrant, toasted herbs and wildflowers emerge. The harmonious and powerful tannins lead to a deep sip, ideal, after about an hour of decanting, for accompanying meat-based dishes and mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the Walla Walla Valley, from vineyards situated at an altitude of 370 metres. The vines sink their roots into well-drained soils, characterised by river pebbles on the surface followed by layers of sand and silt that give purity to the fruit. The area's climate encourages early budding and the development of very small berries, ensuring uniform ripening that results in a harvest of great concentration and structural intensity.
How it is produced
The cellar process involves the exclusive use of indigenous yeasts to activate co-fermentation in wooden vats, combining whole berries and whole bunches. A prolonged maceration of fifty-one days in contact with the skins allows for the extraction of colour and phenolic texture. Finally, ageing for twenty-two months in French oak barrels, partially new, imparts roundness and aromatic complexity, fully respecting the wine's identity and freshness.
