Description
What kind of wine it is
Grattamacco Bolgheri Vermentino is an organic still white wine that encapsulates the coastal essence of Tuscany. Made entirely from Vermentino grapes, it is a pure expression of the Bolgheri region. In the glass, it displays a straw yellow hue, heralding a sip characterised by a vibrant mineral freshness. Ideal for pairing with fish dishes and cheeses, it shows its elegance best when served between twelve and fourteen degrees Celsius.
Where it comes from
This Vermentino originates in the municipality of Castagneto Carducci, along the Tuscan coastline. The vineyards grow at one hundred metres above sea level, caressed by a Mediterranean climate tempered by sea breezes, which promote balance and aromatic clarity. The vines sink their roots into soils rich in white clays mixed with calcareous marl flysch. This particular composition gives the wine a solid structure and supports its unmistakable savouriness, also ensuring excellent ageing potential that can range from five to ten years.
How it is produced
Grattamacco's production aims to enhance the characteristics of the grape variety. Vinification takes place one third in wooden barrels and the remainder in steel tanks, combining complexity with expressive clarity. The wine then undergoes six months of ageing with frequent bâtonnage on the fine lees. This technique increases volume and persistence on the palate, consolidating the structure without compromising its natural aromatic freshness.
History and Curiosities

The vines, rooted in white clay, benefit from sea breezes. Six months of ageing with frequent bâtonnage on the fine lees imparts a vibrant mineral freshness, ideal for accompanying fish dishes.
