Description

What kind of wine it is

Barolo Bussia by Giuseppe Rinaldi is a substantial red wine from Piedmont, made from Nebbiolo grapes. Distinguished by its garnet colour with iridescent highlights, it reveals a deep aromatic profile with notes of undergrowth, cinchona and graphite. The bouquet is enriched with hints of tobacco, balsamic nuances, blood orange, violet and medicinal herbs. On the palate, it expresses well-integrated freshness and savouriness, supported by an enveloping structure and a subtle tannic grip. The harmonious taste unfolds into a three-dimensional finish of extraordinary persistence.

Where it comes from

The grapes are grown in Bussia, a renowned area of Piedmont dedicated to producing outstanding Barolo expressions. The Giuseppe Rinaldi winery, a historic family-run estate, cultivates its vineyards according to the principles of organic farming. Every intervention in the vineyard and cellar aims to preserve the integrity of the soil and the identity of the grape variety. The characteristics of the land are reflected in a precise tannic texture, capable of supporting a complex gustatory structure. This profound connection with its native land gives the wine exceptional ageing potential, ensuring a fascinating longevity that endures for decades.

How it is produced

Vinification involves a long maceration on the skins, followed by a slow maturation of thirty-six months in wooden barrels. This oenological choice allows the polyphenolic components to evolve and smooth out naturally over time. At the table, it elegantly accompanies structured meats, game, mature cheeses and a flavoursome risotto with Castelmagno cheese and hazelnuts. To enhance its aromatic breadth, a serving temperature between 18 and 20 °C is recommended. One hour of decanting before consumption allows every nuance to express itself in the glass with maximum clarity.

History and Curiosities

Founded in 1920, the historic family-run winery Giuseppe Rinaldi preserves authentic Piedmontese tradition through the organic cultivation of just eight hectares. Led by oenologist Marta Rinaldi, the estate enhances the essence of Nebbiolo through a lengthy maceration and a slow ageing process of 36 months in large barrels, practices that bestow extraordinary elegance upon the Barolo Bussia 2021. This refined expression, awarded 97 points by Decanter, reflects the dedication of an estate that offers a masterpiece of pure character.

An icon of the Barolo world, the Giuseppe Rinaldi winery is descended from a family of winegrowers and has stubbornly contributed to the excellent production of Nebbiolo produced in the vineyards of Ravera, Cannubi San Lorenzo, Brunate and Le Coste.

Nothing has changed in so many vintages, apart from the working support of Giuseppe's daughters, Marta and Carlotta, who, keeping the tradition intact with an eye on the future, have been able to tune traditionalists and progressive Barolo lovers.

The winery, one of the most classic in the Langhe, preserves the varietal character of the vines bred and cared for according to the dictates of organic farming, which are then subjected to long maceration and maturation in large barrels, to then give the glass elegant wines with strong character, full of history and sure of a bright future.
