Description
What kind of wine it is
Flora Sauvignon is a still white wine produced in Alto Adige by the Girlan winery. This Sauvignon Blanc stands out for its fresh and precise profile, releasing clear aromas of nettle and elderflower, enriched by citrus nuances and notes of white-fleshed fruit. On the palate, it is taut and dynamic, supported by a pronounced minerality and a brilliant acidic liveliness that balances the elegant structure, leading to a clean and remarkably persistent finish.
Where it comes from
This wine originates in Alto Adige from vineyards located between Cornaiano, Monticolo and the Monte di Appiano. The vines grow at around five hundred metres above sea level, benefiting from an Alpine-Mediterranean climate that ensures ideal temperature variations. The heterogeneous soils, composed of clay, limestone and gravel, give the grapes the distinct mineral imprint and tension typical of the area. The Girlan winery brings together the commitment of numerous winegrowers who, under the guidance of oenologist Gerhard Kofler, cultivate these slopes, enhancing the unique characteristics of the region.
How it is produced
The Sauvignon Blanc bunches are harvested by hand and undergo a brief maceration followed by gentle pressing. After the natural settling of the must, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. Maturation continues for eight months on fine lees, divided between steel and large oak barrels, without malolactic fermentation to preserve the natural freshness of the fruit. The process concludes with bottle ageing, which perfects its overall balance.
