Description

Achieving top scores year after year is not something everyone can do: for this reason too, this Metodo Classico Pinot Noir must be considered among the finest expressions of the art of sparkling wine making in the Oltrepò Pavese area. Giorgi, a company that has been producing wines since the late 19th century, has managed to spread from the tables of local families to more than fifty countries around the world. Its success is due both to its immense vineyards, suited to their exposure and soil composition, and to the use of innovative and traditional winemaking techniques. The Giorgio winery's vineyards are located in one of the most beautiful wine-growing areas in the province of Pavia. Giorgi represents one of the most important wineries in the province of Pavia, and its wines are synonymous with reliability, quality, and excellence. Giorgi produces approximately 8,000 bottles of this Gran Cuvée Storica 1870, a testament to the importance this wine holds within the company's production. The Pinot Noir by Giorgi Gran Cuvée Storica 1870 is typical of the Oltrepò Pavese region in Lombardy. Pinot Noir vines are characteristic of a geographical area with a strong winemaking vocation. A sparkling wine with DOCG designation, it is produced according to the Classic Method with secondary fermentation in the bottle for 36 months. The production area is located in an area characterized by rolling hills with low water retention, ideal for growing vines. The clayey-calcareous soil and the altitude no higher than 400 meters allow the grapes to acquire all the components that will characterize the aromas and scents of the future wine. The climate of the Oltrepò Pavese is typically continental, influenced by the cold coming from the Ligurian Apennines, favoring the ripening of grapes very suitable for the production of high-quality sparkling wines.

The origins of Cantine Giorgi date back to 1875. The first wine-growing generation of the Giorgi family produced wine for families in neighbouring villages of Pavia, according to the customs of the time. Unlike others, however, they were already pushing beyond their borders with great ambition.

The Giorgi family has always firmly focused on the entire production chain: from the grape to the bottle, laying the foundations from the beginning to realise their grand project of creating a significant wine company. This project became a reality as early as 1970, when the brothers, Gianfranco and Antonio, built a second winery, modern and technologically very advanced, in Canneto Pavese.

With the construction of the third winery in Camponoce, Giorgi finally achieved national consecration in the 1980s, with a sales network of 80 representatives and a presence in the best restaurants and wine shops nationwide.

Today Giorgi Vini exports to 59 countries worldwide, has more than 160 agents in Italy, and has won the most important international and national awards (Three Glasses by Gambero Rosso and Five Bunches sommelier). In addition, Giorgi proudly represents Oltrepò Pavese in Italy and the world.
