Description
What kind of wine it is
The Alto Adige Gewürztraminer Concerto Grosso by Elena Walch is a refined aromatic still white wine that best expresses the characteristics of the Gewürztraminer grape. In the glass, it displays a bright golden yellow hue, hinting at an intense and finely layered aromatic profile. The bouquet releases lively notes of candied orange and citrus, enriched by sweet hints of honey and spicy nuances of cinnamon and cloves. On the palate, this label impresses with its full yet delicate structure, enveloping the mouth while maintaining great elegance. The tasting experience concludes with a long, spicy finish, confirming the remarkable personality of the sip.
Where it comes from
This wine originates from the picturesque village of Termeno, located along the scenic Wine Road in the province of Bolzano. Here, in the heart of the renowned Alto Adige region, the Elena Walch winery cultivates its vines in the Söll subzone, particularly suited to the growth of Gewürztraminer. This family-run estate is a key reference point for the area's winemaking excellence. Under the careful guidance of the family, now passed on to daughters Julia and Karoline, the company works with dedication to enhance the deep connection between the vine and the local microclimates. The result is an authentic territorial expression that faithfully reflects the natural winegrowing vocation of Alto Adige.
How it is produced
The winemaking process begins with a skin maceration of about six hours, essential for extracting the aromatic richness of the grapes before fermentation. Afterwards, the bunches are gently pressed and the resulting must undergoes static clarification. Fermentation takes place in steel tanks at a strictly controlled temperature, thus preserving the freshness of the primary aromas. Ageing on the lees continues for several months in steel containers, giving the wine further stability and roundness. Ideally served between 12 and 14°C, this wine proves to be an excellent companion at the table. It creates perfect gastronomic pairings with fish dishes, poultry, flavourful cheeses, vegetarian recipes and intensely spiced preparations.
