Description

What kind of wine it is

The Champagne Les Prémices Extra Brut is an elegant wine crafted by Egly-Ouriet, the result of a meticulous blend combining Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Produced using the Traditional Method, it stands out for its fresh profile supported by a fine perlage. On the nose, it offers floral aromas followed by delicate pastry notes. On the palate, it is vibrant, in true Extra Brut style, and expresses a pronounced minerality accompanied by a complexity that evolves with every sip.

Where it comes from

This Champagne is made from grapes grown in the vineyards owned by Egly-Ouriet within the Champagne region of France. The vines take root in the renowned terroirs of Ambonnay, Bouzy, Verzenay and Vrigny. The soils boast deep layers of chalk capable of retaining heat and gradually releasing it to the plants. This particular geological nature gives the grapes a strong identity, ensuring the wine has a vibrant freshness on the palate and a precise mineral expression.

How it is produced

Vinification strictly follows the rules of the Traditional Method, starting with a meticulous selection of the estate's grapes. The winemaking approach involves the complete absence of filtration, a choice aimed at maintaining the full integrity and purity of the must. This is followed by a slow maturation in the cellar for 36 months, which shapes the wine's structure, enriches the bouquet and defines the effervescent texture. The result displays a solid technical balance between the evolved notes and the dry profile of the dosage.

History and Curiosities

This prestigious Traditional Method originates from the vineyards owned by Egly-Ouriet, located on the chalky soils of Champagne between Ambonnay and the surrounding areas. The elegant Extra Brut Les Prémices highlights the craftsmanship of the independent winemaker, standing out for its lack of filtration and a patient 36-month maturation. Offered in the majestic Magnum format, it provides a sublime experience, widely celebrated by international critics.

A Champagne that represents its terroir: the vine and soil are found throughout this wine, thanks to old vines, a few winemaker's secrets and modern technology. Egly-Ouriet produces champagne only with grapes from its 11.5 hectares company's vineyards, the most important of which are in Ambonnay, the home of Pinot Noir, the others in Bouzy, Verzenay and Vrigny. Quality begins on this particular soil, made up of layers of chalk that reflect the sun's rays and release heat to the vines at night, allowing excess water to be absorbed and giving the grapes a particularly mineral taste.
