Description
Still red from Slovenia, produced by Marjan Simcic. 100% Merlot, 2020 vintage. A Merlot that expresses a family's passion for viticulture, with a winemaking process that enhances the varietal's characteristics. Spontaneous fermentation with skin contact (maceration) for 21 days in a 5,000-liter stainless steel tank (fermenter), followed by soft pressing with a pneumatic press. Aged for up to 42 months in 225-liter classic French oak barrels (barriques). Bottle ageing: at least 6 months. Aromas of dark berries. Ruby red color. Elegant structure with a pleasant freshness. The wine has a harmonious and long development with a prolonged finish.

Along the wines’ structure we can follow the intertwining of long-lasting winemaker’s experience, signature of his character and all the best offered by the Brda terroir. In Brda jargon Opoka means marl of aeolian sediment very poor in organic structure, whereas very rich with mineral salts. Read more
