Description

What kind of wine it is

The Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Kaefferkopf by Domaine du Moulin de Dusenbach is an aromatic still white wine that enhances the varietal characteristics of the Gewürztraminer grape. In the glass, it shines with a yellow colour and vivid golden highlights. The nose is enveloped by a bouquet of exotic fruit, while on the palate the sip is full, harmonious and perfectly balanced. Its pronounced aromatic profile makes it an ideal companion for Asian cuisine and spicy dishes, blue or mature cheeses, and fruit-based desserts.

Where it comes from

This label originates from Alsatian vineyards located within the prestigious Alsace Grand Cru area, with particular reference to the renowned Kaefferkopf terroir. Production is entrusted to Domaine du Moulin de Dusenbach, an independent winery now managed by the Schwebel family. Covering forty hectares, the wine project aims to enhance the complexity of the terroir, delivering in the glass a clear and faithful interpretation of its place of origin.

How it is produced

Vinification begins with the manual harvesting of the grapes, followed by gentle pneumatic pressing of the whole bunches to ensure respectful extraction of the must. The low-temperature fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, thus preserving the fragrance of the varietal aromas. Finally, maturation on fine lees gives body and depth to the wine's structure. The result is a white wine with an impeccable technical profile, capable of combining great aromatic clarity with a velvety and enveloping sip.

History and Curiosities

The Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Kaefferkopf 2020 from Domaine du Moulin de Dusenbach embodies the elegance of Alsace. Founded in the 1970s and now run by the Schwebel family, the estate operates as an independent winemaker. In 2018, a merger with a neighbouring company gave rise to a forty-hectare project, further enhancing this historic cru. The meticulous manual harvest and maturation on fine lees give this white wine an intense bouquet of exotic fruit, offering a harmonious, full and perfectly balanced sip.

Founded in the 1970s by Bernard Schwach, a winegrower who himself came from a family of winegrowers going back several generations, the vineyard covers 26 hectares.

In 2008, the estate became the property of the Jean and Monique Schwebel family, who favour a qualitative approach to wine that respects people and the environment.

In early 2018, the Domaine decided to join forces with a neighbouring wine estate: Domaine Viticole de la Ville de Colmar.

From now on, this new project will bring together a single estate covering 40 hectares of vineyards offering a diversity of terroirs, geological riches and exceptional exposure.
