From this winery
An atypical vineyard on the Montagne de Reims, Nogement l'Abbedesse is one of the martyred villages of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, hit by the phylloxera crisis and the Great War.

Its vineyards have been classified under the Champagne appellation since 1911, although the first traces of winegrowing on its terroir date back to the Middle Ages. It is now known as a ā€˜coteaux champenois’, and will soon be known as Champagne...

The Coustheur-Bonnard family is one of those whose identity is rooted in the terroir and the soil, and has been anchored in the village for 300 years.
