Description
What kind of wine it is
Closerie de Camensac is an elegant still red wine that embodies the winemaking essence of Bordeaux. Produced in the Haut-Médoc, this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot offers a tasting experience of genuine charm. In the glass, it displays an intense purple-red colour, heralding a broad bouquet dominated by clear aromas of red fruits. On the palate, the structure is harmonious and well-defined, delivering a smooth sip that perfectly balances the fruity component with a delicate tannic texture. The estate belongs to the prestigious Cinquièmes Crus classification of 1855.
Where it comes from
This refined red originates in the Haut-Médoc, a renowned area of Bordeaux where Château de Camensac carefully cultivates its vineyards. The estate's soils, characterised by fine, deep gravel resting on a limestone subsoil, promote balanced plant growth. The vines, with an average age of about thirty-five years, are grown at a high density of ten thousand vines per hectare. This meticulous agronomic management, combined with strictly limited yields, allows for grapes of remarkable concentration. This approach results in an elegant profile and a smooth drinkability.
How it is produced
Production begins with a rigorous manual harvest and selection of the bunches. Vinification takes place in stainless steel and concrete vats, where fermentation lasts from fifteen to twenty-one days to precisely extract colour and structural components. Afterwards, the wine undergoes fifteen months of ageing in oak barrels, with a proportion of new wood renewed each year. This careful maturation shapes the palate's texture and enhances the product's longevity, offering solid ageing potential. Decanting for one hour is recommended.
