Carranco was born from the meeting of Borgogno and Tornatore, a blend of history, experience, and authentic Ethnean roots.

The vineyards are located on the volcano's northern flank, and only traditional methods of vinification are used. It only grows native vines, primarily Nerello Mescalese, Nerello Cappuccio, and Carricante, which are the purest expressions of Etna, and it is from the volcanic soils that they draw the power, strength, and explosiveness of each eruption.

Story Here we are located in a special area of our estate, in "Contrada Carranco" where we have selected a vineyard to be produced individually. We have in fact identi ed the even more suitable area of the district, in the plot further north, in the middle of the basalt rocks. e peculiarity is that there is an old vineyard that is unique: they are bush training vines planted on small terraces.
Origin Castiglione di Sicilia - Contrada Carranco
Climate Altitude: 500 m. a.s.l. Exposure: North.
Soil composition Volcanic
Cultivation system Bush training.
Harvest Half of October.
Fermentation temperature 24 - 26 °C
Wine making After the harvest, 50% of our Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccino grapes are destemmed and crushed. e remainder, on the other hand, remains in whole bunches. Fermentation then follows, where the 2 musts are alternated inside the concrete tanks, stratifying rst the crushed-destemmed must, then the whole bunch, repeating this process until the tank is lled. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 24 - 26 °C with repeated punching down.
Aging The wines are then aged in large French oak barrels for 12 - maximum 18 - months before bottling.
