Description
What kind of wine it is
Cantina della Volta Lambrusco di Sorbara Metodo Classico Rosé Brut precisely expresses the qualities of the grape variety. Produced using the Traditional Method, it stands out for its pale pink colour and a fine, persistent perlage. On the nose, clear notes of raspberry, wild strawberry, old rose and pomegranate emerge. On the palate, it reveals structure, vibrant acidity and a refined savouriness that makes each sip lively and inviting.
Where it comes from
It originates in Bomporto, in the heart of Emilia-Romagna, in an area historically dedicated to the cultivation of Lambrusco di Sorbara. In this environment, the vines develop pronounced aromatic profiles and marked freshness. The geographical identity translates into a taut and slender rosé wine, capable of delivering in the glass an authentic expression of the territory and the typical liveliness of the Modena area.
How it is produced
Production involves manual harvesting at the end of September, with a rigorous selection of bunches. After gentle pressing following strict fractioning criteria, the must ferments in steel tanks. The wine rests for six months in tank before the secondary fermentation in the bottle, as required by the Traditional Method, which takes place at twelve degrees to encourage slow maturation on the lees, followed by the remuage and disgorgement stages. This meticulous process ensures the wine has excellent ageing potential.
History and Curiosities
Awarded the prestigious Tre Bicchieri Gambero Rosso, this 2020 vintage exemplifies the excellence of sparkling wine production in Emilia. Produced in Bomporto from pure Lambrusco di Sorbara grapes, it is the result of a strictly manual harvest aimed at preserving the integrity of the bunches. The meticulous vinification using the traditional method, with secondary fermentation in the bottle at a constant temperature, yields a fine and persistent perlage. The result is a sip with vigorous acidity and refined savouriness, enhanced by notes of raspberry, old rose and pomegranate.

The company is based in the original building of the Cantina Bellei, built by Christian’s great-grandfather on the banks of the Naviglio di Bomporto canal, near the 18th-century dock, where boats would perform la volta (‘the turnaround’) before setting sail once more to return back to the city of Modena. It is to this place, steeped in meaning and history, that we owe the symbol of the riverboat and the company name of the Cantina della Volta. Read more
