Description
What kind of wine is it
Andrius is a still white wine from Alto Adige, made exclusively from Sauvignon Blanc grapes. In the glass, it displays a straw yellow hue with distinct greenish highlights. Its aromatic profile stands out for its precision, offering clear floral notes of elderflower and sage that blend harmoniously with delicate aromas of peach and apricot. On the palate, it reveals a pronounced personality, characterised by a balanced acidity that supports a full-bodied sip, finishing with a pleasantly harmonious and very persistent aftertaste.
Where does it come from
This white wine originates from the Andriano area, in a pedoclimatic context that enhances the characteristics of the variety. The vineyards take root in distinctive reddish and clayey soils of calcareous origin, enriched by valuable layers of white dolomitic stone. This unique geological composition of the soil is crucial in giving the wine structure and longevity. The care of the vines is entrusted to the expertise of Andriano, a historic wine estate founded in 1893 that operates in deep harmony with the surrounding environment.
How is it produced
The process begins with temperature-controlled fermentation carried out in stainless steel tanks, an essential step to preserve the integrity and clarity of the varietal aromas. Subsequently, the wine undergoes a period of maturation on the lees lasting six months, which takes place partly in steel containers and partly in large wooden casks. This targeted ageing on fine lees enriches the structure, resulting in a complex and consistent flavour profile that faithfully reflects the Alto Adige region.
History and Curiosities
Founded in 1893, the historic Andriano winery embodies a vision where dynamism skilfully unites past and future. The Andrius 2023 represents the essence of this philosophy, encapsulated in the motto “becoming and being”. This extraordinary wine highlights the deep connection with the South Tyrolean terroir, bringing over a century of winemaking continuity to the glass. While firmly maintaining its roots, the company expresses an exclusive tradition in motion, able to preserve its identity intact for future generations.

Today the strengths of the two wine estates are combined and yet clearly distinct from each other. With its outstanding sites, Cantina Andriano stands for constancy, underpinned by the historic achievement of the Andriano winegrowers for wines like Lagrein, which was one of the first to be aged in barriques here.
On the basis of a consistent commitment to quality and a strong focus on terroir, which had already been a successful recipe in Terlano, Cantina Andriano continues to develop step by step. The winery now looks to the future from a position of strength and can be proud of its identity and standard of quality. They have their roots in unique limestone-rich soils, a climate that is quite different from that of Terlano, and grape varieties ideally suited to these parameters.
That forms the foundation for the distinctive Andriano taste and identity. Read more
