Description

What kind of wine it is

Brancaia Ilatraia Magnum is an organic red wine that faithfully expresses the character of the Tuscan region. This blend of Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc displays a ruby red colour enriched with violet highlights. The bouquet intertwines notes of blackberry and blackcurrant with hints of violet, chervil and distinct mineral notes. On the palate, it is dynamic, warm and enveloping, supported by elegant tannins. The rigorous structure ensures a very long persistence, enhanced by delicate memories of sweet cinnamon.

Where it comes from

Produced by Brancaia, this red wine fully reflects the identity of the Maremma. The climate of the Tuscan coast encourages a perfect synergy between fruit ripeness and stylistic refinement. The vines benefit from ideal environmental conditions that enrich the bouquet with balsamic sensations and noble vegetal hints. The agricultural approach follows strict criteria, ensuring organic and sustainable production that enhances the pure expression of the Tuscan wine landscape.

How it is produced

Harvesting takes place in September and fermentation occurs at a controlled temperature. The maceration on the skins lasts for about twenty-five days, allowing optimal polyphenolic extraction. Afterwards, the wine matures for eighteen months in French barrels, half of which are new, acquiring roundness and complexity. The production process concludes with a long ageing that harmonises the sip, giving this label a deep, balanced structure with excellent ageing potential.

History and Curiosities

The soul of the Maremma is revealed in the Brancaia Ilatraia Magnum 2019, a prestigious organic Toscana IGT awarded 97 points by James Suckling. Born from the passion of the Widmer family, this refined blend is aged for 18 months in French barriques, achieving a perfect balance between freshness and structure. The generous 1.5-litre format is ideal for large gatherings, where its extremely velvety tannins transform every meal into an authentic sensory experience, marked by excellence and respect for the land.
