Description
What kind of wine it is
Le Origini Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva is a still red wine produced by Bolla. The result of a carefully crafted blend of Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella grapes, it stands out for its intense and harmonious aromatic profile. To the eye, its garnet colour with ruby highlights anticipates notes of wild cherries, jam, ripe pear, liquorice and cedarwood. On the palate, it is warm and structured, supported by firm tannins and clear hints of cocoa and spices. Its full and enveloping texture makes it ideal for pairing with robust dishes such as slow-cooked meats and rich selections of mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
This Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva originates from well-ventilated hillside plots located north-west of Verona, in the historic heart of the region. The vines grow at around two hundred metres above sea level in the area of San Pietro in Cariano, ensuring perfect ripening of the grapes. After careful harvesting, the fruit is transferred to the drying lofts of Torbe di Negrar, at about four hundred and fifty metres altitude. Here, the high-altitude drying process takes advantage of optimal air currents, essential for preserving the integrity of the raw material. A wine that faithfully pays homage to the Venetian terroir and the identity of the winery.
How it is produced
Vinification begins with the grapes resting for around one hundred and twenty days, a process that reduces the weight of the berries while concentrating their sugars and aromatic components. At the end of January, the fruit undergoes a cold pre-fermentation maceration, followed by a slow fermentation at controlled temperature and further contact with the skins. Maturation continues in oak barrels of various sizes, where the wine develops breadth and roundness, finishing with suitable bottle ageing. This meticulous technique ensures a long-lasting taste persistence, fully enhancing the powerful character of the blend.
History and Curiosities
Created to celebrate the historic 1950 vintage, signed by the grandchildren of the founders of the Pedemonte Winery, it embodies the historic Amarone of Bolla. Founded in 1883, the company is a pioneer in the drying of grapes. Under the care of oenologist Christian Zulian, the bunches from Torbe di Negrar concentrate their aromas before the winter vinification in January.
