Description
The Trentangeli is produced by Tormaresca, the company that bears the name and represents Antinori in southern Italy. Founded in 1998, it is made up of two estates: Bocca di Lupo, located in the Murgia Barese and Masseria Maime, located in the beating heart of Puglia, Salento. Antinori's goal is precisely to enhance the Apulian terroir, which, despite having long been among the main producers of wine grapes on the peninsula, has never been able to fully express its identity. By cultivating only native grape varieties in harmony and cohesion with the territory, in recent years the company has been contributing to the region's wine renaissance.
Produced on the Bocca di Lupo estate, Tormaresca Trentangeli is the result of the company's attention to detail, enthusiasm, and passion. This wine is made from 70% Aglianico, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the remaining Syrah. The best grapes are selected and harvested by hand between the end of August and the first weeks of October when slightly overripe. After pressing, the must is transferred to stainless steel truncated cone-shaped tanks where alcoholic fermentation takes place, followed by 15 days of maceration, which is managed with punching down and delestage. The wine is then racked into French and Hungarian oak barriques for complete malolactic fermentation and a period of refinement, all for 10 months and followed by another 9 months in the bottle. The Tormaresca Trentangeli owes its name to the rural tradition of Puglia; the area of the estate of the same name was once a refreshment stop for transhumance journeys and the path of the pastures was said to be protected by 30 angels. Today the Trentangeli area is a railway crossing but it can be visited by foot. still observe its ancient magnificence on the label.
