Description
What kind of wine it is
Sobi Rosso Isola dei Nuraghi is a still red wine that embodies the winemaking soul of Sardinia. Produced by Bentu Luna, this captivating blend brings together the Cannonau, Bovale, Barbera, Cagnulari, Carignano and Pascale di Cagliari varieties. On the nose, it offers clear spicy notes, while on the palate it is deep, smooth and enveloped by intense aromas of small red fruits. To fully appreciate its nuances, it is recommended to decant for about an hour and serve at a temperature between sixteen and eighteen degrees. It pairs perfectly with flavourful pork dishes and mature cheeses with a bold taste.
Where it comes from
This Isola dei Nuraghi originates in the heart of Sardinia, in the evocative area of Neoneli. The vines are cultivated as bush vines in small vineyards of less than one hectare, rooted in sandy soils of decomposed granite that give the wine a unique territorial character. The agricultural management aims to preserve the integrity of the surrounding woodland landscape, still using oxen for working the land to safeguard soil vitality. The Moratti family's rural project focuses on enhancing these authentic and unspoilt areas.
How it is produced
Production begins with meticulous destemming of the grapes, followed by spontaneous fermentation carried out by indigenous yeasts in cement vats. The wine then matures for eight months in second-use oak barrels, a choice that enriches its structure while preserving the purity of the fruit. Under the guidance of oenologist Giuseppe Caviola, the wine acquires a clean, smooth and balanced profile. Thanks to the care dedicated to every stage of production, this red boasts excellent longevity, with a cellar ageing potential estimated between ten and fifteen years.
History and Curiosities
Bentu Luna was born in Neoneli to celebrate the authentic rural Sardinian tradition. From small bush-trained vineyards, cultivated on decomposed granite soils and still worked with oxen, a proud and profound wine comes to life. Fermented with indigenous yeasts in concrete vats and matured for 8 months in second-use barriques, Sobi Rosso envelops the palate with notes of red fruit and spicy aromas. Awarded by Gambero Rosso and with 91 points from James Suckling, this IGT guarantees an excellent longevity of 10-15 years.

The Bentu Luna winery, a new project of the Moratti family, is located in Neoneli, a village of pre-Nuragic origin modelled on the typical red trachyte, rich in ancestral memories such as the tenores choirs and the carnival animated by the soc Corriolos masks and bonfires in the square. A strategic choice, therefore, aimed at highlighting unexplored and authentic parts of the rural tradition. Read more
