Description
What kind of wine it is
Scenario Bolgheri Bianco by Argentiera reflects the authentic character of the Tuscan region through a precise interpretation of Vermentino. On the palate, it is a still, dry white wine with controlled designation of origin, able to harmoniously combine freshness and structure in a rich and enveloping sip. Resulting from fermentation in stoneware and untoasted wood, the flavour profile is defined by a distinct mineral tension that fades into an aromatic and persistent finish. Thanks to its natural balance, this wine shows excellent ageing potential and pairs perfectly with fish dishes or cheeses.
Where it comes from
The vineyards grow in the southernmost area of Bolgheri, in Tuscany, on hills facing the sea and surrounded by dense woods. The plots, with northern exposure, are distributed between the lower hills and higher plots. The Mediterranean climate, tempered by sea breezes, ensures ideal brightness and moderate rainfall. The soils have a complex geological composition, characterised by clay, limestone, marl, sand and flysch. This richness of soil gives the wine a defined expression and a distinct territorial imprint.
How it is produced
Production begins with the manual harvesting of the grapes, followed by fermentation at a controlled temperature. The must ferments partly in ceramic stoneware vessels and partly in untoasted wooden barrels, whose staves are bent with steam to respect the original aromatic profile without imparting intrusive notes. Ageing continues on fine lees for nine months in the same containers, thus enriching the wine's texture. The process concludes with an essential maturation phase to integrate the components and stabilise the wine's profile.
History and Curiosities
Born on the Argentiera Estate from a vineyard overlooking the sea, Scenario Bolgheri Bianco is an ambitious project aimed at enhancing the potential of pure Vermentino and its natural aptitude for ageing. The meticulous vinification in stoneware spheres and in untoasted wooden containers, with staves bent by steam, enriches its elegant structure. Entrusted to the expertise of Federico Girelli and Stéphane Derenoncourt, this Bolgheri DOC celebrates the excellence of the Tuscan coast, boasting the prestigious 94 points awarded by Suckling and Decanter.

The name Argentiera derives from ancient silver mines, whose traces are preserved by the history ’s pen since the Etruscans. The Etruscan civilisation developed the peninsula’s first metallurgy, and their far-trading ships brought the art of metalworking to the remote corners of the flourishing archaic Greek settlements.
The estate extends over 153 hectares and embraces a one-of-a-kind biodiversity, a fundamentally important biological mosaic that allows the vineyards to flourish to their optimum extent, protected from insects, harmful animals, and climate-change stress. Read more
