Negro Angelo since 1670. The Family.

Since 1670, the Negro family has been cultivating vineyards on the Roero hills and working to enhance this splendid corner of Piedmont, dedicating its wines to the prestigious indigenous grape varieties: Favorita and Arneis with white fruit, Nebbiolo, Barbera, Bonarda, Dolcetto and Brachetto with long bunches among those with black fruit.

Today it can count on almost 60 hectares of vineyards, distributed between the historic Cascina Perdaudin in Monteu Roero, the Cascina San Vittore in Canale and Basarin in Neive.
The vineyards grow in the best positions exposed to the sun, on calcareous soils of alluvial origin that vary from hill to hill. The different soils and microclimates give rise to very well-defined wines rich in character.

Numerous awards have recognised the personality of these wines, to which Giovanni Negro is passionately dedicated together with his sons Gabriele the vineyard manager, Angelo the oenologist, Emanuela the export manager, Giuseppe the sales manager and his wife Marisa, who is in charge of receiving guests in the cosy cellar in Sant'Anna di Monteu Roero.

History

Before Giovanni Negro, today's owner, there was another character in the history of Azienda Agricola Negro Angelo e Figli. In 1670, "...Giovanni Dominico Negro, son of Audino..." was the owner, in the same area where the Perdaudin farm with its prestigious vineyards stands today, of a house with an oven, farmyard, cellar and rows of vines.

This historical reminiscence, recorded in the historic archives of the Monteu Roero municipality, remains an indelible trace of a past that has already been in the headlines, albeit of the territory.
Even today, Giovanni Negro and his farm are proud witnesses of the Roero's splendid reproductive capacity.

Here between Monteu Roero and Canale, where the hills stretch out more majestically towards the sun, lie the vineyards and cellars of Azienda Agricola Negro Angelo e Figli: almost fifty hectares planted with vines, favouring the traditional varieties of the area: Arneis, Favorita, Barbera, Nebbiolo, Bonarda and Brachetto.

At Cascina Riveri, in the village of S.Anna, is the heart of the company: the cellar premises, where the wines are born, mature and refine, the spaces for welcoming those who come to get to know the products and the people who create them, the places where production and market strategies are fine-tuned, in a continuous and positive confrontation.

Here at Cascina Riveri, there is real life, the life of Giovanni Negro's family, the life that pulsates and projects this small group of people towards the world to come.

Here, Giovanni Negro has the support of his wife Marisa and their four children, Gabriele, Angelo, Emanuela and Giuseppe, now all involved in the company, with whom he evaluates and promotes future projects and builds with pride and relevance. The result of this combination of technology, tradition, young and old generations, is the production of pleasant wines, impeccable in terms of quality, rich in distinct personality, with intense aromas and complex structures, capable of winning acclaim in Italy and throughout the world.
