Description
The Lowegang Chardonnay is produced in the Alois Lageder cellars, southwest of Lake Caldaro, in the beautiful valley of the province of Bolzano. The agricultural estate is in perfect cohesion with the territory and all the crops are completely biodynamic, with anthroposophic principles with the aim of combining the scientific reality with the spiritual dimension and making the farm an organic microcosm where man and nature coexist and enrich each other. In achieving this goal, Alois Lageder has undertaken two projects. The Grandorto project, to allow various crops to coexist in addition to viticulture, with the aim of having a responsible and far-sighted agriculture, and the Buoi project, which with the aim of creating an ecosystem that unites man with flora and fauna, allows oxen to graze in the open air all year round, which among other advantages increases the fertility of the vineyards.
The Alois Lageder Lowegang is produced with chardonnay grapes from the best plots belonging to the Lowegang farm in Magrè and has been the protagonist of the growing success of the estate in recent years. Symbol of a leap in the quality of Alto Adige white wines, it was the first to establish itself on international markets in the 1980s. This item is included in the "i Capolavori" line, with wines of the highest quality and coming from the best farms on the estate with the aim of enhancing their unique characteristics. Produced using the organic-dynamic method with the essential role of the winemaker who identifies himself as a mediator of the microcosm. The harvest takes place between the end of August and the beginning of September in sandy, gravelly and very calcareous soils. The spontaneous fermentation of the must takes place in barriques and large wooden barrels. The contact with the fermentation lees occurs for a maximum of one year, followed by blending and bottle aging for a further year. This high-quality wine has an optimal aging potential of approximately 3 to 15 years and is vigorous, harmonious, and well-structured, characteristics inherited from the different microzones of Magré, which react differently to climatic conditions each year, making each vintage a different masterpiece.
