Description

This Barolo comes from the prestigious Romirasco vineyard, in the heart of the Bussia area of Monforte d'Alba, made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes. Aldo Conterno founded his winery in the 1960s, after dividing the estate of his father Giacomo, a key figure in post-war Italian winemaking. Manual harvest in mid-October. Maceration of the skins in stainless steel tanks for 30 days. Aged in large Slavonian oak barrels for 30 months. It expresses intense, pleasant, elegant, and refined aromas of black cherry jam, raspberry jam, plum jam, and violets, followed by pleasing aromas of cocoa, leather, licorice, tobacco, and vanilla. Light ruby red color with garnet hues, fairly transparent. Volume and breadth on the palate, with a persistent finish with perfect and pleasant hints of raspberry, plum and cherry.

Aldo Conterno founded his winery in the sixties, after the division of the legacy of his father James, one of the central figures of Italian post-war. Today the company, a sort of monumental fortress in the center of Bussia Monteforte, is undoubtedly one of the biggest names not only of the Langhe, but around the world of Italian wine. Here are some of the greatest Barolo born of history, beginning with numerous memorable versions of Granbussia, a reserve produced only in great vintages. The current style is affected to a greater extent than before, the contribution of the oak, however, preserving adequate structural strength and a careful extraction of tannin. Read more
