Description
What type of spirit is it
Ron Miel by Aldea is a distinctive Honey Rum crafted from aged spirit distilled from pure virgin sugarcane juice and carefully blended with local honey from the Canary Islands. Protected by a Designation of Origin, it displays a warm amber colour with golden reflections. The profile offers intense honey notes, layered with subtle spicy nuances and hints of sugarcane. Smooth and balanced, it concludes with a velvety texture at 20% ABV, best enjoyed neat or over ice at 8 to 12°C, or as a versatile ingredient in light cocktails and desserts.
Where does it come from
This spirit hails from the Canary Islands, Spain, a region with a rich history of sugarcane cultivation dating back to the eighteenth century. Production takes place in Las Palmas, where the ideal microclimate ensures the growth of high-quality sugarcane. Founded in 1936, Aldea is managed by the fourth generation of the Quevedo family, who maintain their time-honoured distillation methods. By using regional resources such as pure virgin cane juice and selected local honey, the distillery creates a spirit that truly reflects its authentic origins.
How is it produced
The production of Aldea Ron Miel begins with an aged rum base, derived entirely from fermented, freshly pressed sugarcane juice. Distillation takes place in a traditional copper pot still, adhering to historical techniques without the use of neutral alcohol. Following distillation, the spirit is expertly blended with local honey to achieve its signature profile. This meticulous method integrates the natural sweetness of the honey with gentle spicy nuances, ensuring the spirit retains a well-rounded structure and a notably velvety finish.
History and Heritage
Steeped in the rich sugarcane heritage of the Canary Islands, Aldea Ron Miel honours an 18th-century tradition of enhancing fine spirits with pure honey. Established in 1936, the Quevedo family is now in its fourth generation of meticulously crafting this aged honey rum in Las Palmas, utilising the region’s ideal microclimate. By distilling pristine virgin sugarcane juice in an original copper pot still and blending it with local honey, they preserve an artisanal recipe that has earned a prestigious designation of origin.

Distillery Aldea was founded in 1936 by Manuel Quevedo Alemán on the island of Gran Canaria. Subsequently production was moved to the island of La Palma, where today is managed by the fourth generation of the Quevedo family. The island of La Palma offers the right mix of nature, history, culture, tradition, craftsmanship and quality; current production keeps the same passion for a while, still using the pure virgin juice of distilled cane in the original ancient alambic.
