Description
Aldea Ron Miel is the most typical distillate of the Canary Islands. This distillate, with its intense honey flavor, is one of the flagship products of Destilerias Aldea. It is widely used in cooking, in cocktails, and in the preparation of delicious recipes. Sugarcane cultivation probably dates back to ancient times in the Canary Islands: rum production has been documented since the 18th century, especially rum blended with 2-3% honey. The honey-flavored variety obtained its Designation of Origin in 2005, making it a highly prized product among true connoisseurs. Obtained by fermenting Ron Añejo, made from cane sugar, with honey, Aldea Ron Miel is left to ferment in the traditional still, so as not to alter the original recipe in any way. Distillation follows ancient processes, jealously guarded by the Quevedo family, now in its fourth generation of management. Production, permanently moved to Las Palmas to take advantage of the ideal microclimate for the fertile growth of sugarcane, uses only pure virgin juice, which is blended with local honey, carefully selected and expertly selected. The resulting product is a pure rum, without added neutral alcohol, with an intense and rounded flavor, ideal for making light cocktails and enjoying after a meal with friends.
Distillery Aldea was founded in 1936 by Manuel Quevedo Alemán on the island of Gran Canaria. Subsequently production was moved to the island of La Palma, where today is managed by the fourth generation of the Quevedo family. The island of La Palma offers the right mix of nature, history, culture, tradition, craftsmanship and quality; current production keeps the same passion for a while, still using the pure virgin juice of distilled cane in the original ancient alambic.
