Description

What kind of wine it is

Albino Rocca Barbaresco is a still red wine from Piedmont that expresses the character of Nebbiolo with an elegant and precise style. Its well-defined structure is combined with pleasant drinkability, offering a profile based on clear balance. On the palate, it features integrated tannins and marked versatility, making it suitable for various occasions without necessarily requiring lengthy ageing. Its harmonious taste makes it ideal for accompanying structured dishes, consistently enhancing red meats, game and mature cheeses.

Where it comes from

The grapes come from the youngest vineyards of the Albino Rocca estate, spread across the hills of Barbaresco, Neive and the Meruzzano area in the municipality of Alba. The vines benefit from exposures ranging from south-east to south-west, encouraging a linear and consistent ripening of the Nebbiolo clusters. The root system delves into marl and limestone soils, characterised by a balanced presence of clay, sandstone and sand. This specific geological mosaic of the Langhe supports the definition of flavour in the sip, resulting in a clear and orderly territorial profile.

How it is produced

The process begins by carefully blending grapes harvested from different plots, to faithfully reflect the identity of the territory. After fermentation, the wine matures exclusively in German and Austrian oak barrels for about twenty months. This targeted wood management is designed to preserve the original aromatic integrity, delicately enriching the tannic texture. A final period of bottle ageing completes the production cycle, resulting in an extremely balanced and measured glass.

History and Curiosities

This Barbaresco DOCG 2022 from Albino Rocca expresses the deep bond between the family and the historic hills of Piedmont. Made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes harvested from young vineyards located between Barbaresco, Neive and Alba, it encapsulates the authentic elegance of the region. The calcareous and marl soils give this wine a refined and versatile character. Presented in the iconic Albeisa bottle, a symbol of local tradition, it represents a harmonious and satisfying expression, perfect for enhancing any convivial moment with the true essence of the denomination.

Our history starts in the mid 1940’s when Albino Rocca’s father Giacomo started in the wine business initially selling grapes from family vineyards and later making his own wine that was sold in demijohn.

Thanks to the inheritance of some of our most precious vineyards in the 1960’s our grandfather was able to start what is now our winery Albino Rocca. Albino’s hard work and his strong support of our father Angelo Rocca laid the foundation that created a family winemaking tradition that has grown internationally over the years.

Our history has been built together, year by year. First through the gradual acquisition of vineyards and the production of not only Nebbiolo, but also Dolcetto and Barbera in addition to our continuous effort to evolve the quality of our Barbaresco – which starts in the vineyards and continues in the cellar.
