Description

Akashi Mesei Whisky 0.5l is part of the blended whisky category, it is powerful and has a melting yet creamy texture; it was created specifically for the foreign market. It is produced by the White Oak Distillery in Japan, more precisely in Hyogo. It is made from a pleasant combination of grain and single malt, 45% of which have been aged for 4-5 years in small American oak barrels. This particular and unique spirit, known as "Japanese blended whisky" has a light golden amber color with bright reflections. It has a deep, soft, sweet, dry and velvety personality, with notes of powdered sugar, vanilla, barley malt and a floral undertone. On the palate it is soft and round, with oak, spices and dried fruit clearly present; Created to amaze and intrigue those who taste it, in fact, if translated "Akashi Meisei" means celebrity. This Japanese whisky, moreover, aims to become "famous" by providing a solution to the ongoing controversy over whiskies produced in Japan that do not follow the traditional production methodology used in Europe. Some whiskies specifically for the Japanese market are in fact produced with malt whisky and spirit molasses, a practice that would not classify it as whisky in Europe. Akashi Meisei, on the other hand, is made with 30% malted barley and grain whisky in perfect European style.

From this winery
The history of the Japanese Whiskey is closely connected to that of the young chemistry student Masataka Taketsuru who, after the First World War, went to Scotland to learn the method of producing malt spirits.

On his return, Taketsuru decided to found the Nikka distillery, now renowned for the high quality of malt distillates it produces. Although Taketsuru is considered the father of the Japanese Whiskey, it is however important to remember that he was not the first to distill Whiskey in the Land of the Rising Sun. In fact, in fact, the "White Oak Distillery", founded back in 1888, began producing Whiskey, albeit in small quantities, as early as 1919.

In 1984, then, with the construction of a new and modern factory, the "White Oak Distillery", located in the city of Akashi and now belonging to the Eigashima company, has become one of the most important Japanese distilleries that produces malt whiskey.
