Description

What kind of wine it is

Agnanum Campi Flegrei Falanghina is a still white wine that expresses the character of the Campania region. Made from Falanghina grapes, it displays a bright yellow colour with golden highlights. Its aromatic profile is distinguished by fruity and floral aromas, balanced by herbal notes. On the palate, it offers a fresh, juicy and vibrant sip. This dynamism makes it ideal for pairing with fish dishes or cheese.

Where it comes from

This white wine is born in the Campi Flegrei, specifically on the hills of the Astroni Nature Reserve, in the Agnano area. The Agnanum estate has practised rigorous heroic viticulture on steep terraces for decades. The complex agricultural management requires meticulous manual interventions, including shaping the soil to create small basins around each vine, essential for optimising water supply. The interaction between the deep volcanic soils, the marine influence and intense sunlight distinctly shapes the organoleptic profile of the harvest. The low yields per hectare ensure a marked concentration, precisely reflecting the territorial typicity of the area.

How it is produced

The production process begins with a late harvest, followed by careful selection of the best bunches, all picked by hand. In the cellar, vinification follows established practices to preserve the integrity and expressive purity of the original fruit. Maturation follows the natural passage of time without forcing, delaying its release to the market by about a year after the harvest. This slow, spontaneous ageing allows the wine's energy and freshness to stabilise harmoniously. Any natural residues visible at the bottom are evidence of minimally invasive artisanal processing and total adherence to an essential production method.

History and Curiosities

Born on the volcanic hills of the Astroni Reserve, this Falanghina embodies the essence of the heroic viticulture of the Phlegraean Fields. For over forty years, the Moccia family has cultivated the steep terraces with dedication and manual labour, maintaining very low yields to ensure absolute excellence. Thanks to a late harvest and strict traditional methods, a limited production with a fresh and energetic character is created. Patient ageing results in a pure wine, whose possible natural residues bear witness to the authentic artisan genuineness of the product.

Located on the volcanic hills of the Astroni nature reserve, in the historical Campi Flegrei area, the Moccia farm has been passionately dedicated to viticulture for over forty years.

An accurate recovery plan, started in 1960 by the founder Gennaro Moccia and continued with equal enthusiasm by his son Raffaele who, in order to follow the company closely, gave up his free profession as an agro-technician, has made it possible to fully exploit the wine resources of this area.

The Moccia vineyards stand on the hills of the Astroni di Agnano nature reserve, where the particular slope of the hill, with its terraced layout, allows only manual management of the same, based on continuous shaping of the terrain, thus guaranteeing the right water supply through the creation of small basins created near each individual vine.

The careful selection of the grapes, the very low yields per hectare (approximately 30-40 Ql), the late harvest, and the marketing postponed for about a year after the harvest, guarantee the high quality of the final product, while any residues at the bottom of the bottles testify to its genuineness.

From the vineyard to the wine, the tradition and care of the Moccia family allow the products to be enhanced with a flavour and aroma that is always appreciated and appreciated even by the most demanding consumers.

Produced in a limited edition, Agnanum is the natural second result of winemaking using traditional methods.
