Description

What kind of spirit is this?

Aberfeldy Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a smooth, structured and balanced spirit. Crafted from malted barley, water and yeast, it undergoes double distillation in copper pot stills before an extensive maturation period in oak casks. This process yields an inviting aromatic profile defined by distinct notes of honey, vanilla and caramel, seamlessly interwoven with ripe and dried fruits. A delicate malt presence, light spices and a whisper of restrained smoke lead to a long, silky finish with a gentle, oaky bitterness.

Where does it come from?

Produced by Aberfeldy in the heart of Scotland, this whisky captures the authentic character of the Highland region. Established in 1898, the distillery draws its essential water from the pure currents of the Pitilie Burn. This specific geographical origin shapes a distinctive flavour profile that balances a signature honeyed sweetness with vibrant fruit notes. The local environment and pristine water source naturally impart a measured oak spice, while ensuring the underlying smoke remains elegantly light and approachable.

How is it produced?

The production relies on a precise batch method, transforming the foundational ingredients through double distillation. The spirit is then matured in a complex selection of vessels, including first-fill Bourbon casks and first-fill Sherry casks, alongside rejuvenated toasted wood. This extensive ageing creates a golden-yellow colour with amber reflections and a deep bouquet of heather, candied orange peel, stewed apple and warm baking spices. To fully appreciate its fine structure, this whisky is best served neat at room temperature or thoughtfully paired with dark chocolate.

History and Heritage

Founded by John and Tommy Dewar in 1898, the historic Aberfeldy distillery crafts its exceptional spirits using pure water from the Pitilie Burn, a stream famous for its rare gold deposits. Remaining faithful to traditional double distillation methods, this strictly limited release is matured entirely in Scotland for over two decades. Having earned top honours at the World Whiskies Awards, this prestigious 21-year-old masterpiece embodies authentic Highland elegance and unparalleled whisky craftsmanship.
