This is due to a clear and precise vision of the work of the Alois Lageder company in which every activity is linked to the protection of the territory in which it is located. Founded in 1823 and now in its sixth generation, Alois Lageder is distinguished by its ability to combine innovation and tradition while working in harmony with nature. In the vineyards belonging to the Alois Lageder winery, grapes such as Cortaccia, Magrè and Termeno are cultivated using biodynamic and organic methods. It is with this in mind that wines come to life that are true ambassadors of the territory, fascinating reds and whites that make up a series of Lageder wines that are divided by their quality into: Classics, Terroir Selections, Masi. xtraWine offers you the best of the Alois Lageder wine production, proposing bottles made from important grape varieties such as: red blend, pinot noir, lagrein and riesling belonging to the best vintages of 2016 and 2017.
The Alois Lageder Winery comes to life in the picturesque lands of Albions, a charming mountain village in Val Gardena. In the 19th century, the courageous Johann Lageder left mountain life behind to seek his fortune in the city. From a modest job as a wheelwright, the beginning of a story emerges that would give rise to a wine empire.
In 1823, Johann took over the cartwright's business, opening the door to his passion for wine. In 1855, Johann's sons split their time between cartwright and wine merchant, Alois continuing the winemaking tradition. The company grew rapidly, allowing Alois to acquire the first vineyards and to make wine from both his own and purchased grapes.
The winery, passed on from generation to generation, carries on Alois' legacy of quality. Today, with Alois IV at the helm, the quest for perfection in wine remains undiminished. The modern wine cellar in Magré embodies the sustainable and technological commitment, with state-of-the-art equipment such as grape handling by gravity, in the imposing 17-metre 'tower'.
The company produces wines in three unique lines: 'Classic Grapes', 'Compositions' and 'Masterpieces'. The first accepts grapes from suppliers, while the second blends own and purchased grapes. The third is distinguished by grapes from vineyards cultivated using biodynamic methods, embodying a harmonious approach to nature.
Alois IV embodies the philosophy of the company:"Even from the best vineyard and the noblest vine, a great wine can never be produced without the work of man." Man becomes the master of the art of wine-making, revealing and sublimating the potential contained in the earth.
