Fresnet - Juillet

In 1952, Gérard Fresnet, my father, decided to make his own bottles of Champagne. In order to implement his project, he renovated an old family cellar in Verzy. He needed space to store the bottles. He therefore decided to dig cellars.

From 1955 to 1997, the Champagne cellars were dug into the chalk by hand. Initially, it was necessary to go down to a depth of 12 metres, in order to obtain optimal conditions for the conservation of future bottles. Then, galleries were built to accommodate the storage cellars.

In 1991, a new modern vat house was installed by your Champagne producer, including stainless steel vats equipped with a temperature control system to optimise the quality and conservation of the Champagne wines. In the same year, a Coquart press was installed, whose quality level is indisputable in Champagne.

In 2006, your Champagne producer in the Marne region created a new site to locate the press closer to the vines. This gives me more space on the site and allows me to acquire in 2007 a "disgorging yard" to improve the elaboration of the King of Wines. These machines are used to make bottles ready to be tasted.
