Description
What kind of wine it is
Zorzettig Sauvignon is a still white wine that captures the essence of Friuli, enhancing the unique qualities of the Sauvignon Blanc grape variety. Visually, it displays a straw yellow colour, heralding a clear aromatic profile. On the nose, it releases aromas of sage, tomato leaf and boxwood, enriched by hints of elderflower and yellow grapefruit. On the palate, it is soft and elegant, with a balanced structure and a full sip. The lively freshness supports the olfactory intensity, making it perfect as an aperitif or paired with shellfish, vegetarian dishes and white asparagus.
Where it comes from
This wine originates from the hills of Cividale del Friuli, in the Colli Orientali area. The vineyards cultivated by Zorzettig benefit from an ideal geographical position, protected from cold winds by the Julian Alps and tempered by breezes from the Adriatic Sea. The temperate Mediterranean climate encourages optimal ripening of the grapes. The vines sink their roots into marl and sandstone soils of Eocene origin, composed of ancient seabeds rich in clay, limestone and silt. These geological features give the wine a pronounced aromatic expression, reflecting the authentic identity of the Friulian territory.
How it is produced
The production process begins with meticulous harvesting of the Sauvignon Blanc grapes, followed by vinification aimed at preserving the primary aromas of the variety. Fermentation and maturation take place in stainless steel tanks for about six months, allowing the wine to define its aromatic profile and stabilise its structure, while maintaining the vegetal and fruity notes intact. Before being released to the market, it undergoes a further two months of bottle ageing. This final resting period encourages the integration of the various components, ensuring harmony on the palate and perfect sensory coherence.
