Description

What kind of wine it is

Zaccagnini Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Riserva San Clemente is a still red wine of great depth. Produced exclusively from Montepulciano grapes, it stands out for its intense, clear ruby red colour. On the nose, it offers a deep bouquet, characterised by notes of red fruits and distinct hints of liquorice. On the palate, it reveals a full and vigorous body, supported by a firm tannic structure that is perfectly integrated. The sip is marked by excellent persistence, making it ideal to pair with red meats, game and mature cheeses.

Where it comes from

This expression of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo originates in the Terre di Casauria, a particularly renowned wine-growing area in Abruzzo. Zaccagnini, established in this region since the late seventies, cultivates its vineyards by enhancing the identity of the landscape. The geographical origin gives the wine a distinctive character, faithfully reflecting the climatic peculiarities of the area. Careful management of the extensive vineyard area allows for the selection of the best fruit, ensuring consistent quality that enhances the prestige of the denomination.

How it is produced

Production begins with gentle pressing of the bunches, followed by maceration in oak barrels with regular manual pump-overs. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature to optimise aromatic extraction. Subsequently, the wine matures for at least nine months in wooden barrels, continuing its journey in steel tanks. Ageing is completed with a period of rest in the bottle before release, ensuring the wine has remarkable ageing potential and a solid structural balance.

History and Curiosities

Produced in Abruzzo by the Zaccagnini winery, founded in 1978, the San Clemente Riserva 2019 embodies the authentic vocation of the Terre di Casauria. This elegant Montepulciano matures for three years, achieving excellent refinement in wood and bottle under the careful guidance of oenologist Federica Lauterio. Able to combine a strong family bond with absolute oenological prestige, the wine has been awarded the prestigious 5 Grappoli Bibenda. A robust, persistent and unforgettable glass.
