Description
What kind of wine it is
Vite Colte Barolo Essenze Riserva is an elegant red from Piedmont made from Nebbiolo grapes, the highest expression of the prestigious Barolo Riserva denomination. In the glass, it reveals a garnet colour and a complex bouquet, where scents of dried flowers stand out alongside hints of vanilla and tobacco. On the palate, it is dry and full-bodied, supported by silky tannins that ensure perfect ageing over time. The sip offers a persistent finish with notes of wild berries, chocolate and balsamic nuances. It requires about two hours of decanting to fully release its aromas and is ideally paired with roasts, game and mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
This red originates in the municipality of Barolo, in the heart of the Langhe. The vineyards are situated between three hundred and seventy and four hundred and eighty metres above sea level, a range that ensures the right balance between ripeness and freshness. The soils have a marine sedimentary origin and are rich in clay-limestone marl alternating with Diano sandstone, giving the wine a deep mineral character. Vite Colte, located at the foot of the renowned crus of the area, operates through a management system aimed at ensuring the highest quality of the grapes and fully enhancing the territorial specificity.
How it is produced
Produced only in the best vintages, the vinification process begins with alcoholic fermentation and a twenty-day maceration on the skins, encouraging the extraction of the phenolic components typical of Nebbiolo. Malolactic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks to define the taste balance. Maturation continues for twenty-four months in small oak barrels, developing an elegant aromatic complexity. A further bottle ageing of twelve months allows the wine to achieve perfect structural harmony, ensuring a longevity of over twenty-five years.
History and Curiosities
Born in the Langhe from Nebbiolo grapes, Vite Colte Barolo Essenze Riserva 2015 is produced exclusively in the best vintages. The winery, located at the foot of the prestigious Barolo crus, enhances the region by remunerating suppliers based on the vineyard area, a choice aimed at prioritising qualitative excellence. This philosophy, combined with the expertise of oenologist Bruno Cordero, has led to an impressive 93 points from James Suckling. Aged for 24 months in small oak barrels and 12 months in bottle, it guarantees a longevity of over 25 years.

Vite Colte is made up of people who strongly believe in a shared concept of quality, where the responsibility of individuals is an integral part of the final result. Winegrowers, partners, friends. The members of ViteColte are "accomplices" in a project that demands dedication to quality which is every bit as strict as the protocols implemented in its pursuit. Every winegrower is remunerated on the basis of the size of the vineyard and not the quantity of product, in order to obtain the highest level of quality. Read more
