Description
What kind of wine it is
The Pinot Nero Longorucis from Vie di Romans is a still red wine that precisely expresses the character of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Produced in the Friuli Isonzo area, it is made exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes. On the palate, it offers a rich and complex flavour, outlining an elegant structure with great balance. It is a meticulously crafted wine, ideal for those who appreciate a deep and multifaceted drink, which benefits from about an hour of decanting to fully open up and reveal all its natural nuances.
Where it comes from
This wine is created in Mariano del Friuli, on well-drained soils with limited water retention capacity. The soil, moderately deep and rich in stones, has a texture that ranges from silty-sandy to silty-clayey. The typical reddish colour comes from the presence of iron and aluminium oxides, elements that influence the wine's mineral profile. The use of simple Guyot training, combined with high planting density, encourages low yields per hectare, ensuring bunches with a clear varietal expression.
How it is produced
After harvesting, vinification begins with destemming and crushing, followed by a sixteen-day maceration with careful cap management. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats at controlled temperatures, followed by a complete malolactic fermentation that gives the wine roundness and harmony. Ageing continues for fourteen months in barrels, enriching its structure. The process concludes with a period in steel tanks to allow for natural clarification before bottling.
