Description

What kind of wine it is

Vie di Romans Chardonnay Magnum is a white wine with a structured profile, an authentic expression of the Friuli Isonzo region. It displays a golden yellow hue that anticipates a complex bouquet: on the nose, notes of pineapple, papaya and white peach emerge, intertwined with buttery hints, citron zest, mint and sage. On the palate, the Chardonnay reveals an enveloping sip, supported by a vibrant, savoury freshness and a mineral, balanced finish, ideal paired with fish dishes, shellfish, sushi and soft cheeses.

Where it comes from

The Chardonnay grapes come from vineyards located in Mariano del Friuli, where low yields favour extraordinary aromatic concentration. The soil plays a fundamental role in developing the sensory profile of this wine: it is moderately deep and characterised by a reddish clay fraction, due to the high presence of iron and aluminium oxides. These natural elements give the wine a savoury flavour profile and a pleasantly mineral finish, imparting a strong identity to every sip.

How it is produced

Vinification involves a temperature-controlled fermentation lasting twenty days, aimed at preserving the original fragrance of the fruit. This is followed by a nine-month ageing period in barrels in contact with the lees, a technique that gives the wine volume, structure and a precise aromatic definition. A further eight months of rest stabilises the flavour profile and harmonises the various components, resulting in a tasting experience with a long mineral persistence enriched by subtle buttery nuances.

History and Curiosities

The impressive Magnum format enhances the qualities of the Vie di Romans Chardonnay 2024, born in the renowned terroir of Friuli Isonzo DOC on soils rich in red clays, iron and aluminium oxides. After a meticulous fermentation, the wine matures for 9 months in barrique on the lees and rests for a further 8 months in the bottle, acquiring superior elegance. On the palate, it offers a vibrant, savoury freshness and a perfectly balanced mineral finish, enriched by intoxicating aromas of pineapple, papaya and delicate buttery nuances.
