Description
What kind of wine is it
Champagne à Vertus 1er Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature is a refined sparkling wine produced using the Traditional Method by the Veuve Fourny & Fils maison. It appears a straw yellow colour with golden highlights, animated by a fine and persistent perlage. The aromatic bouquet harmoniously blends fruity notes, citrus, and light pastry nuances. On the palate, the Champagne is velvety and balanced, offering a creamy texture that evolves towards a savoury finish. Its natural freshness makes it an ideal companion for raw seafood, cheeses, sushi, and sashimi. It has been awarded a score of 92/100 by Robert Parker.
Where does it come from
This Blanc de Blancs originates in Vertus, in the heart of the Champagne region, in the renowned Côte des Blancs. The vineyards, located in areas classified as Premier Cru, include exclusive plots such as Clos Faubourg Notre-Dame. The artisanal production aims to enhance the authentic character that Chardonnay expresses in this territory, precisely reflecting the characteristics of the soil. This provenance gives the wine a defined personality and a pronounced mineral tension, distinctive traits of the vibrant style of this pas dosé sparkling wine.
How is it produced
Production follows the strict standards of the Traditional Method, beginning with the manual harvesting of the grapes. During vinification, only the first pressing must is used to ensure maximum purity. The wine matures on the lees for seven months, developing in a carefully crafted blend of stainless steel tanks and oak barrels, without filtration. Maturation then continues in bottle in the historic nineteenth-century cellars, where the temperature is kept low and constant. The decision not to add dosage at the end of the process preserves the crisp structure and the natural salinity of the sip.
History and Curiosities
This Veuve Fourny & Fils cuvée originates in Vertus Premier Cru from only the first pressing juice of Chardonnay. As an elegant Champagne Brut Nature, it stands out for its absence of dosage and minimal sulphites. The seven-month maturation on the lees between steel and unfiltered oak barrels enriches the wine. The rest in nineteenth-century cellars enhances the blend of three vintages, an excellence awarded 92 points by Robert Parker.

From our grandfather Albert and his son Roger and Madame Veuve Fourny, we have inherited know-how as well as ancient vineyards, including the Clos Faubourg Notre - Dame, a rarity in Champagne.
Us brothers took over the Family House in 1993. Through our personal experiences and our very different personalities, we have jointly decided the style of our cuvées.
Our collection of Champagnes highlights our Premier Cru terroir of the Côte des Blancs in a curated style, with an equal share of elegance and freshness. We do our best, from the vineyards right to the cellars, to extract the purest expression of the grapes and the terroir in order to produce champagne with a low dosage. Read more
