Description

What type of wine it is

The Querciantica by Velenosi is a still red wine from the Marche region that masterfully interprets the Lacrima di Morro d’Alba Superiore denomination. Made exclusively from Lacrima grapes, it reveals an intense ruby red colour in the glass, enriched by deep violet reflections. The olfactory profile opens with a fragrant and floral bouquet, dominated by notes of strawberry, morello cherry, violet, rose and geranium. On the palate, it offers a full and balanced sip, characterised by a lively freshness and soft tannins, which accompany a juicy and pleasantly persistent gustatory progression.

Where it comes from

The roots of this wine lie in the vineyards of San Marcello, in the province of Ancona, a territory historically suited to the cultivation of Lacrima. The hills of the Marche offer predominantly clayey and fertile soils, essential for giving the wine its unique structure and a velvety texture. The spurred cordon training system encourages optimal ripening, allowing the grape variety to best express its hints of red fruits and floral aromas. This specific terroir results in a distinct sapidity and balance, ensuring an elegant and well-defined persistence.

How it is produced

After destemming, fermentation takes place in steel at a controlled temperature, with maceration on the skins for about twenty days. During this phase, daily pumping over carried out in closed fermenters is essential to preserve the integrity of the grape variety's primary aromas. The result is a pulpy red, with well-integrated tannins. Ideally served at sixteen degrees to appreciate its sensory range, this wine pairs harmoniously with savoury meats and aged cheeses, as well as rich roast beef, elegantly supporting the complexity of the courses.

History and interesting facts

Querciantica is an authentic treasure from the Marche region, born from the rare Lacrima di Morro d’Alba grape variety, grown exclusively in the Ancona area and known since 1167. The Velenosi winery produces this superb DOC Superiore expression from the vineyards of San Marcello. Awarded 99 points by Luca Maroni, this excellent single-varietal wine possesses the elegance required to evolve in the cellar for up to six years.
