Description

What kind of wine is it

Produced by Van Nahmen, this organic grape juice is made exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes from the Rheinhessen region. Crafted as a direct juice without the use of concentrates, it offers a fresh and well-structured flavour profile. The sweet and enveloping entry gradually gives way to a silky tannic texture and a finish with delicate tension. On the nose, it develops a clear aromatic bouquet featuring notes of wild berries, cranberry and rhubarb, enriched by distinctive hints of lovage, vanilla and spices.

Where does it come from

Production originates in the Rheinhessen area, within the renowned Pfaffen-Schwabenheimer Mandelbaum vineyard. This specific plot benefits from a cool climate and rests on deep clay soils, conditions that impart marked acidity and a vibrant red colour to the juice. The terroir of origin ensures an optimal balance between the natural sweetness of the fruit and lively flavour. The grapes come from strict organic farming, carefully managed by the Van Nahmen family to preserve the authenticity of the agricultural landscape.

How is it produced

The Pinot Noir grapes, harvested during September, are transformed into direct grape juice following the artisanal principle of nothing added and nothing taken away. This rigorous approach enhances the utmost varietal purity, avoiding any alteration. To fully appreciate the aromatic complexity of the drink, a serving temperature between 8 and 12 °C is recommended. Once opened, the product retains its precious organoleptic characteristics for consumption within five days.

History and Curiosities

Since 1917, the Van Nahmen family business has preserved ancient varieties at risk of extinction. This excellent organic grape juice originates from the Pfaffen-Schwabenheimer Mandelbaum vineyard in Rheinhessen, where the clay soil gives the 2018 Pinot Noir a vibrant acidity. Produced without alcohol or additives according to the principle of 'nothing added or taken away', it offers an authentic and complex aromatic profile. An outstanding vegan and sustainable product, awarded 8.5 by De Grote Hamersma, it embodies a deep respect for nature.

From this winery
"Commitment to tradition" is a motto that has guided our private press house for more than 100 years. To us, tradition also means innovation, as it takes continuous improvement and further development to create a tried-and-tested product. Our great-grandfather Wilhelm van Nahmen founded a Rhineland apple butter operation in 1917. In the 1930s, production shifted to apple juice from the local region. The juice is pressed from apples grown on tall trees found in the mixed orchards typical of the Lower Rhine and Münsterland regions. We are still helping to preserve these orchards today, and have been committed to a premium price concept with the Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union NABU since 1994.

Rare fruit varieties from the Lower Rhine and other gourmet regions have been pressed into single-variety juices since 2007. Each juice has its own distinctive flavour. This particular flavour is also the trademark of our traditional company’s innovative products, such as our non-alcoholic fruit seccos, a successful alternative to champagne and sparkling wine. Our fruit seccos draw on more than a hundred years of history at our family company, which will continue to remain true to the traditional principles of its ancestral press house to produce new, aromatic products. Enjoy the pure taste of nature with us.
