Description
What kind of wine it is
Valpanera's Friuli Pinot Grigio is a still white wine with controlled designation of origin, produced in Friuli from Pinot Grigio grapes, with a brief ageing on fine lees. The aromatic profile opens with clear notes of acacia flowers, accompanied by hints of white peach and tropical fruit. On the palate, it shows good volume and a pronounced mineral streak, well balanced by a lively and refreshing citrus drive. Its balanced structure and savoury sip make it ideal for pairing with fish dishes and selections of flavourful cheeses, if served chilled between 10 and 12 degrees Celsius.
Where it comes from
The vines take root in Cortona di Fiumicello, in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, along the ancient course of the Torre stream. The area is characterised by soils rich in active limestone, with a neutral or slightly basic pH, composed of silt, sand and gravel. This alluvial geological matrix gives the wine a distinct mineral imprint and marked savouriness. The deep connection with the Friuli territory is reflected in an essential and clean style, which enhances the vocation of the area, ensuring a great palate cleanliness and a measured sip.
How it is produced
The harvest takes place in the first half of September. This is followed by careful white vinification of the grapes, which includes direct pressing and cold stabilisation. The subsequent fermentation at controlled temperature faithfully preserves the integrity of the delicate varietal aromas. A brief ageing on fine lees gives further depth and continuity to the palate before bottling. This process gives the Pinot Grigio a vibrant freshness, ensuring a dry, harmonious and refinedly elegant sip.

Friuli is renowned for its esteemed white wines, attributed to several key factors: The region’s UNIQUE MICROCLIMATE, influenced by the Alps, provides warm days and cool nights, crucial for preserving grape acidity and freshness. This balance allows complex flavors to develop, resulting in vibrant, nuanced wines. The MINERAL RICH MARL AND SANDSTONE MICRO SOIL add distinct mineral notes. Friuli winemakers, with generations of expertise, blend traditional techniques with
modern innovations to elevate their wines. Friuli wines are celebrated for their AROMATIC PROFILES featuring citrus, stone fruits, and floral undertones, pairing beautifully with various dishes and loved by wine enthusiasts worldwide.
Between the sea and the Alpine snow‑capped mountains lies a narrow cultivable strip of land, shaped by alternating layers of clay, lime, and sandstone. This region offers a rare harmony between the sweetness of marine clay and the mineral
toughness of the Isonzo gravels. A natural equilibrium that enhances the character of our grape varieties and gives life to wines of exceptional quality. And it is precisely here that our winery is located. Read more
