Description
What kind of wine it is
Tuzko Birtok Riesling Pannon is a still white wine that rigorously expresses the character of the Riesling grape variety. The bouquet opens with lively notes of tropical fruit, peach and apple, intertwined with fresh hints of lime, lemon and delicate floral nuances. On the palate, it reveals a balanced structure, accompanied by a pleasant freshness that leads the sip towards a long and persistent finish. With natural bottle ageing, the profile is enriched, developing the typical hydrocarbon notes that are a distinctive hallmark of this variety.
Where it comes from
This wine originates in Hungary, in the Szekszárd-Tolna region south of Budapest, between the areas of Bátaapáti and Mőcsény. Production is entrusted to Tuzko Birtok, a historic estate founded at the end of the eighteenth century. The name of the winery means “flint”, a tribute to the rich flint deposits that characterise the local soils. This mineral imprint of the land is directly transferred to the glass, ensuring a linear and precise character that fully enhances the expressiveness of the grape variety.
How it is produced
The process begins with the manual harvesting of the grapes, which are quickly taken to the winery to be selected, destemmed and gently pressed. Fermentation of the must takes place in stainless steel tanks for about twelve to fourteen days, with the temperature kept under control. By using reductive winemaking techniques, the winery preserves the aromatic purity of the fruit. The process concludes with maturation in steel for several months, an ideal technical choice to maintain the vibrant acidity and original fragrance.
History and Curiosities
Founded at the end of the eighteenth century in Hungary, between Bátaapáti and Mőcsény, the historic winery Tuzko Birtok is an outstanding example from the Szekszárd-Tolna region, enhanced by the management of the Antinori and Mazzei families. Its name, which literally means “flint”, refers to the deep flint deposits found in the soil. This extraordinary mineral wealth gives the Riesling grapes a unique character, resulting in an authentic wine that combines vibrant fruity elegance with a marked tendency to evolve over time.
