Description
What kind of wine it is
Travaglini Gattinara Riserva is a still red wine from Piedmont, made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes. Typical of the Gattinara area, it appears in the glass with an intense garnet colour and a delicate transparency. The aromatic profile is deep and concentrated, dominated by liquorice notes and juniper berries, intertwined with balsamic hints of sandalwood and toasted nuances. Hints of preserved fruit, blackberry and cherry then emerge, with a finish of dried flowers. On the palate, it expresses a vigorous yet refined tannic structure, balanced by pronounced savouriness and an evolving persistence of flavour.
Where it comes from
This wine originates in Piedmont, in the Gattinara area, from historic vineyards aged between forty-five and sixty-five years. The rocky soil plays a fundamental role, giving the wine a distinct mineral character. A constant fresh breeze caresses the vines throughout the year, moderating temperatures and promoting the perfect ripening of the Nebbiolo grapes. Thanks to the ideal south and south-west exposure, the vines benefit from optimal sunlight, essential for achieving an intense structure that harmoniously blends with freshness and savouriness.
How it is produced
After a careful selection of the bunches, temperature-controlled fermentation takes place in steel tanks for about fifteen to eighteen days, ensuring optimal extraction of colour and aromas. Maturation continues in large Slavonian oak barrels for around forty months, an essential stage to soften and round out the tannic component. This is followed by a further ten months of bottle ageing. This robust red finds its ideal gastronomic pairing with game dishes, mature cheeses and flavourful braised meat preparations.
