Description
What kind of wine it is
Terminum Gewürztraminer Late Harvest is a sweet white wine crafted by Tramin, a true expression of Alto Adige. Made from Gewürztraminer grapes touched by noble rot, it stands out for its full and creamy style, perfectly balanced between deep sweetness and a refreshing savoury note. Its aromatic profile offers intense hints of pineapple, syrupy apricots, dates and honey. On the palate, it is dense and enveloping, with a harmonious and persistent finish that closes on a delicate spicy sensation.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the vineyards of Sella, located above Termeno at the foot of the Roen massif. This terroir, with its calcareous-clay soils, enriches the body of the wine and defines its mineral component. The cool climate, characterised by a significant diurnal temperature range, is essential to support the natural acidity of the Gewürztraminer grape. Here, the rare optimal conditions are created for the development of Botrytis cinerea, the fungus that, by dehydrating the berry, concentrates the sugars and imparts the unmistakable aromatic signature of this style.
How it is produced
The process begins with a manual late harvest, during which only the botrytised bunches are rigorously selected between November and December. After a brief maceration and gentle pressing, fermentation and maturation take place in small French oak barrels. The time spent in wood delicately integrates the aromas and imparts a pronounced silkiness, balancing the sweetness with acidic tension. Designed to evolve over time, it is a meditation wine, perfect to accompany blue cheeses, pâté and desserts.
History and Curiosities
The result of the dedication of the 160 families of the Tramin Winery, founded in 1898, the Terminum Gewürztraminer is born in the prized vineyards of Sella, at the foot of Mount Roen. Here, the development of Botrytis cinerea enriches the grapes, allowing for a meticulous manual late harvest between November and December. The expert ageing in French oak barriques further elevates this meditation wine from the 2023 vintage. Awarded by Suckling and Veronelli, it offers extraordinary harmony designed to evolve in the bottle for up to 15 years.
