Description
What type of wine it is
Neprica Negroamaro by Tormaresca is a still red wine that best expresses the characteristics of Apulian viticulture. Made from Negroamaro grapes, this wine falls under the Puglia Indicazione Geografica Tipica designation, ensuring an authentic expression of the region. It presents as a soft and elegant red, characterised by fine, sweet tannins and a vibrant freshness. On the palate, it offers a long, fruity and persistent finish. Maturation takes place predominantly in stainless steel, thus preserving the fruity and floral aromas typical of the grape variety.
Where it comes from
This wine comes from the Puglia region, a prime territory for the cultivation of local varieties. The grapes are grown at the Tenuta Maìme estate, located in San Pietro Vernotico, in Upper Salento. This estate stretches along the coast, creating a unique landscape where vineyards grow among woods and pine forests until they meet the sea. A portion of the grapes also comes from the Tenuta Bocca di Lupo estate in Minervino Murge. The soil and climatic characteristics of these areas, combined with the proximity to the sea, contribute to defining the distinctive character and freshness of the Negroamaro.
How it is produced
The production of Neprica Negroamaro involves careful vinification to preserve the integrity of the fruit. Once the grapes arrive at the winery, they are destemmed and gently pressed. The must is then transferred to stainless steel tanks, where alcoholic fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature not exceeding 26°C. Maceration on the skins lasts for a period of between eight and ten days. Following the completion of malolactic fermentation during the winter, the wine matures for about eight months predominantly in stainless steel, while a small portion rests in third- and fourth-passage barrels. This is followed by the assembly of the blend and further refinement before bottling.
